ABOUT US

Our local Muslim community has been coming together for worship, in rented spaces here in Bridgewater and the surrounding areas, for many years. As well, we’ve offered a weekend Islamic school for families, to provide quality religious education to our children. Our intention with alFalah Center is to serve the needs of the Muslim community, and play a positive role in the wider faith community, as a part of the vibrant mosaic of citizens and neighbors here in our town.

We are delighted to be initiating our new masjid in Bridgewater, which will be a center for the spiritual, social, as well as educational life of our local Muslim community, insha’Allah (God willing). We also look forward to playing a positive role in the wider faith community, as a part of the vibrant mosaic of citizens and neighbors here in Bridgewater.

The alFalah community is diverse: We welcome all our brothers & sisters in Islam, and all who are interested in learning about our faith.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHY BRIDGEWATER?

Bridgewater is a community that welcomes a rich variety of faith traditions – it is already home to seventeen Christian churches, a convent, a Jewish synagogue, two Hindu temples, and one Sikh temple. The many Muslim families living in and around Bridgewater have been looking for many years to establish an Islamic Center right here in our own community - in which to worship, to learn, and to raise our children.

WHO IS ALFALAH?

We are: a diverse group, of many ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, united in our faith… We are: doctors, nurses, midwives, nutritionists, lawyers, executives, IT professionals, small business owners, teachers, mothers, fathers, grandparents, children… We are: your co-workers, your children’s classmates, your neighbors.

WHAT DOES “alFALAH” MEAN?

Our name “alFalah” is a word that appears often in the Qur’an, and is mentioned in the Muslim call to prayer. Its meaning is “true success,” implying that real success comes not from material wealth or power, but rather a spiritual success from living in harmony with God’s guidance.

ARE YOU AFFILIATED WITH ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION?

No; we are mainstream Sunni Muslims, not associated with any political or religious organizations, whether local or international. alFalah Center represents the efforts of Muslim citizens in and around Bridgewater to build a home for our faith community.

WILL YOU BE BROADCASTING THE CALL TO PRAYER?

No, out of consideration for our neighbors we will take care to maintain a quiet and peaceful environment. Our minaret is purely for decoration - just as a church steeple is part of the architecture of a church even without its church bells.

ARE MY DONATIONS TAX EXEMPT?

Yes, donations to AlFalah Center are tax exempt. We are a 501(c)3 organization with a tax exempt EIN: 90-0639190.
